Founded in 1991 by John Pecora, formally an Industrial Photographer with UTC Otis Elevator, Autograph started as a supplier to the burgeoning digital photography market. Early digital cameras were primarily marketed by Kodak and Mr Pecora represented Kodak in the New England area. Autograph supplied not only the front end cameras and scanners but also the back end support with dedicated servers and throughput architecture designed especially for professional photo studios and printers. Notable installations include the Wadsworth Atheneum Museum in Hartford, the Yale Photograph Department and the Mashantucket Pequot Museum and Research Center (adjacent to Foxwoods casino) in Mashantucket, CT.
